Call to Visual Artists
Pierce County Art Bank Portable Works Purchase 2009-Mixed Media
Submissions Due June 26, 2009
Pierce County Arts & Cultural Services is seeking to expand its inventory of portable artworks by purchasing original artworks from Pierce County artists. Visual artists living and/or working in Pierce County are eligible and encouraged to submit artwork that meets the criteria for consideration. The Pierce County Art Bank portable artwork collection is installed in public spaces throughout Pierce County buildings with the goal to improve the quality of the work environment, support local artists, and increase awareness of the diversity of art production in the county. The Art Bank, part of the Public Art Program administered by Pierce County Arts & Cultural Services, serves our mission to bring art into the life of all Pierce County residents.
This is a targeted call for mixed media artworks. We are seeking works of visual art that combine various traditionally distinct visual art media. For example, this might be a work on canvas that combines paint, ink, and collage, or a low-relief assemblage incorporating found objects. (This is not a call for "multimedia art" with non-visual elements such as recorded sound or other arts such as performance.)
Please see attached "Call to Visual Artists" for complete submission guidelines. Contact Nicholas Nyland with questions about the program or the application.
