TWL: Support Your Local (US) Power Squadron

Jan and I also joined our local Power Squadron when we got into boat in the Seattle area. We left after a year for the same reasons. Too much pomp, too much stuffing, and not enough boating. We left and joined a local yacht club that was much more relaxed. We even wear jeans at our monthly dinner meetings, perish the thought.

About four years after leaving we were approached to rejoin. We asked if things had changed any and were told, no, and that a lot of people are dropping out because of the rigid atmosphere. That was a couple years ago. And no changes since then either. They need to wake up and smell the coffee.
