The PAIXUE project is pleased to announce the first international conference of our five-year, ERC-funded China-Byzantium research project, "Classicising Learning in Medieval Imperial Systems: Cross-cultural Approaches to Byzantine Paideia and Tang/Song Xue.”
The three-day conference will take place in Edinburgh, from 16-18 May, and will be devoted to the broader theme of "Comparative Approaches to the Chinese and Byzantine Imperial Systems: Literati, Cities, Courts, Soldiers." It will feature a stellar lineup of speakers who have been exploring the possibilities of collaborative work across geographical and disciplinary boundaries.
