BEST WISHES FOR A SAFE AND SUCCESSFUL EVENT... ... to all Gators with races this extended weekend in Chicago, NYC, Down the Shore, and in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii! This is a very special weekend as we remember and celebrate Brian! It all starts on Thursday with the IRONMAN World Championships, Part 1 on Thursday then continues with Gators participating in events through the weekend. We will be having our own event on Saturday afternoon at Sly Fox in Pottstown and look forward to seeing many of you there! The event runs 3pm-6pm, which is during the IRONMAN World Championships, Part 2. We'll gather, reminisce, have fun, then raise a glass (maybe a bunch of times) and have a beer. We are planning to take a group photo at 4:30pm, so if you would like to be part of that, please plan to be there at that time. And don't forget to wear your Hawaiian themed attire if you have it! It will be a cool afternoon (and sunny) and we'll be outside, so perhaps plan for an extra layer or two. Weekend Workouts: We have our usual Sunday swim... • Saturday 10/8, morning: We may add a last minute social bike ride on the SRT, so watch for a post about that if we do. • Sunday 10/9, 11:15am-12:15pm, Spring Valley YMCA indoor lap pool: Uncoached group swim workout Weekend Events: We have 6 athletes running and tri-ing over the weekend... Thursday, October 6: • IRONMAN World Championships, Part 1 (Kailua-Kona, HI): The women's pro field will race along with all female age group athletes and several of the male age groups. Included will be Gator Christina Pitchford who is the first athlete racing in the IRONMAN World Championships as a Gator! Get your trackers ready... Christy's race begins at 6:35am Hawaii time, which is 12:35pm (lunch time) for those of us at home and will finish in the early hours of Friday morning. Go Christy! Saturday, October 8: • SPONSOR EVENT: DelMo Elite Sports "Crest Best Run Fest", Part 1 (Wildwood Crest, NJ): This two day event begins with a late afternoon 5K and Sheri Kuss will be representing the club in her first of two events! Go Sheri! • IRONMAN World Championships, Part 2 (Kailua-Kona, HI): The men's pro field will race along with all remaining male age group athletes. We'll all be thinking of Brian Kozera during this event and especially at 7:05am Hawaii time / 1:05pmEDT when the men's 40-44 age group starts. Go Susan and Joe! • Chicago Marathon (Chicago, IL): What a year for Sonny Dayrit as he has completed IRONMAN Lake Placid and now takes on this iconic marathon along the banks of Lake Michigan!
