All hands--
Here's an email I received from a PUP subscriber the other day. It was
a private message so I have deleted the name, but I want to share it
because it so strongly underscores the value of Passagemaking Under
Power List.
I especially draw it to the attention of those already out there
voyaging the world. Here is how much posts about your real-world
experiences mean to planners and dreamers:
Georgs, My wife and I have no boat, but we have dreams. Until two
years
ago we were looking to buy a passagemaking boat sufficient in size
and power
to travel from Florida to one of our homes in Brasil. Our kids are
grown
and out of university so all that tuition could finally go in to a
respectable Nordhavn or Choey Lee, then came 2009, heart surgery,
heart
attack and then small stroke which left me partially blind. Now
thank god I
am really on the mend thanks to doctors in Brasil and the Cleveland
Clinic.
Now to the point of this email, throughout my ordeal my wife and I
have
never given up on passagemaking, we are young, 56, and feel we have
a long
life ahead now and PUP has been a daily read. Until I am completely
well
and know we can do it (with help) we can live somewhat vicariously
through
the adventures of others. I think love of adventure is the key word
for
someone to enjoy your site, boat owner or not. We follow the blogs of
various adventurer's. On occasion I tune the PUP site out when nit
picking
begins and whining and naysayers hit the site. But even then I save
the
emails I have for several years. I will read all one day as a book
for me
when we do finally get our boat. Just to let you know we appreciate
your
site and work. XXXXXX XXXXXX, Sao Paulo, Brasil/Hunt, Texas
