Hi Folks -
I've posted a few times with questions and have gotten great advice and many
answers. Also I have found a wealth of information in the daily digest.
This time I just want to share my excitement for having finally joined the
trawler community.
We bought our boat and now are planning the shake down cruise to its new home
in Texas from the east coast of Florida.
It's a substantial 1991, 46' custom-made (Earl E. Fitzhugh, ever heard of
him?), with twin Perkins 6-354s, generator, fiberglass tanks, roomy and
livable, but stripped and neglected for a few years. On the plus side, it's
fairly clean inside and very dry, meets all our needs to go anywhere we want
to go. It's one big project, but also usable while being improved and
beautified.
I can't think of a better way to begin the new year than aboard our own
trawler. I look forward to meeting other trawlerites along the way and sharing
experiences with you all. Happy holidays!
Congratulations, welcome to the club. Jeff Sharkey MT 34 "Ripple"

Tom, Big Congratulations. I gotta celebrate a new Trawler Owner and how
that must feel! She sounds like a great boat waiting for the right owner,
you. All the searching, number crunching, and negotiation are done. Now the
real fun begins. The shakedown cruise and the way back home should be
over-the-top exciting!
We are going through the buying and then a refit process now ourselves. We
have been the List posting "requesting-buying-advice" over the last few
days. It has got to be an exciting day when you get underway. We - and
probably others on the List - would really like to hear how it goes. If you
have time, think about keeping us posted.
We are in Eastern Shore Marina and Boat Yard in Fairhope,AL. We have an
agreement on a boat - 36' Lien Hwa being refitted by the seller who is the
Yard Owner. The boat should be turned over to us by 31 Jan.07. By the end
of Feb'07 we hope to be cruising back to Corpus Christi.
If it works for you in your return-home-plans plans, stop by. We'd love to
see Refugio and hear the tale. By the way, where in Texas are you returning
to?
We are planning to put up a web site in the next couple of days to share our
experience. We'll notify the List of the site.
