My folks just purchased a Panda 40 and are in the process to have the hull
and topsides re-painted.
Does anyone have any suggestions regarding the pro/cons on the type of paint
to be used?
They are currently looking at Awlgrip for the hull. Any suggestions
regarding single or 2 part poly paints?
Thanks everyone.

Is this a Do It Yourself project? If the painting will be done by a
professional I think you will find that many only work with one type of
paint. They have a paint they are comfortable with and stick with it, so
you are either choosing the paint or the painter.
I can attest to the longevity of Awl-Grip - my hull after 19 years from 15
feet still looks pretty good. The house did not stand up as well. Be aware
the Awl-Grip and presumably other 2 part LPs don't like water - they
bubble when water is held against it i.e. by canvas. However, in my case
this took a few years.
If it is DIY will it be sprayed or rolled / brushed ?

Use any of the brand name 2 part poly urethanes (Awlgip, Imron, Sterling,
International may be more) that the painter uses and likes the most. Use
what the painter likes. They are all very similar. If you are DIY, go for
the International as it is easy to get at retail stores, thinners and all.
Tip number two, always use same manufacturer for all primers, top coats,
thinner, cleaners. Unless the painter has experience and likes something else.
