Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes

A look at Great Loop List archives indicates it has been more than three years since we last saw a post:

I’ll take that as a signal that we can safely shut down the list, as much as I fondly recall the organizational meeting at a Solomons Trawler Fest way back when.
If you’re interested in cruising under power in all its wonderful variants, I’d like to invite you to check out the popular, commercial-free e-forum that has been a source of much information since 1997:

For-sale and want-to-buy postings, charter offerings, and commercial messages are what Trawler-Buy-Sell-Trade List is all about:

Hey!
It was a wonderful list all those years and thanks for that.
I myself had not been very active in the past few years. Cancer got me.
Real bad. It began as melanoma, then went straight to my liver, stomach
and lymph system. It was inoperable and they gave me 6 months to get my
affairs in order.
But just then a new pair of meds came out, it was the Opdivo and Yervoy
combination. It offered only a 21% of cure. I was able to tolerate only 2
of the planned infusions, I got too sick. But amazingly the next scan
month later came out clean. The scan report stated: "Liver - mass lesions
previously idenified, no longer identify". Which is doctor talk for "Where
the heck did they go?"
This treatment was immunotherapy, an it came with one disclaimer, "may
attack healthy tissues". Well that happened too, gave me a nice case of
diverticulitis. But that's treatable too.
So the expected "dead by xmas" turned into 3 more xmases and still ticking.
:)
I made it. I'm cured. Cool huh?
And in few more weeks they will fill the Champlain Canal and Tug 44 will
float once again. And I expect to be the first boat to go through the
locks. I'll be back on the water once again!
Best wishes to all,
Fred Wehner

Well, Fred, I want you to know that at least one of us has thought of you
wondering, "Where the heck did he go?" Sorry for all your struggles and
most delighted to hear "the reports of your death have been greatly
exaggerated." The trawler list and the Trawler Forum are in full swing; so,
let's hear of your adventures there because your posts always bring a ray of
sunshine with them.

Wow Fred, that is great news. So glad to hear and I wish I could be at that first lock through, There should be a party there to celebrate. This sounds like a good reason to re-invigorate the list and I so make the motion to do so.David DoyleMiss My MoneyPDQ MV 34 In a message dated 5/5/2021 3:51:49 PM Eastern Standard Time, richgano@gmail.com writes:

Hi Fred,
I feel that I know you from the many posts you made on the Great Loop
List. I believe that we did have a few email exchanges. Very sorry to
hear about your health issues, but happy to learn that you have overcome
the worst of them. As they say, "tough times don't last, but tough people
do"! Best wishes for more smooth sailing!
