12/22/2013 Snowy Owls, RL Hawks

12/22/13 - New London, Harbor, from the Orient Point Ferry -- 1
RED-NECKED GREBE, seen well close to the boat.  Also on the trip, a
few Northern Gannets.

12/22/13 - Old Greenwich, Greenwich Point Park -- 2 AMERICAN PIPITS in
new woodland near Clambake area.

From Stefan Martin:
12/22/13 - ????? -- 2 adult Northern Gannets flying around the sound
in between Grass Island and Island Beach (seen from Grass Island).

12/22/13 - Orange, yard -- One very raucous Raven flew over.

From Charlie Barnard and Alex Burdo:
12/22/13 - Bridgeport, Seaside Park and environs -- as part of the
Stratford-Milford CBC, from 6:40 to 9 AM; 1 first cycle ICELANDGULL, 1
COMMON RAVEN, 1 LAPLAND LONGSPUR. Also 80 Snow Bunting.

12/22/13 - Preston, Avery Pond -- 2 Snow Geese.

12/22/13 - Stratford-Milford CBC -- Preliminary results highlights
include drake Eurasian Wigeon (Short Beach, Stratford) , Rough-legged
Hawk (Milford Point), several Northern Gannet, 2 Iceland Gull (Milford
and Seaside Park), Razorbill (Lordship), Lapland Longspur (Seaside
Park) and Baltimore Oriole (Milford).  There were as many as 4 Snowy
Owls: 1 on the Fayerweather Island Lighthouse (Seaside Park), 2 in the
Long Beach area of Lordship and one on the sandbar off Milford Point.

12/22/13 - Stratford, Stratford Point -- 3+ Northern Gannets, 1
Razorbill, Eurasian Wigeon (and at Short Beach), Lesser Black-backed
Gull.
Sikorsky Airport (East side) -- Peregrine Falcon.
Birdseye Boat Ramp -- Wilson's Snipe.

12/21/13 - North Granby -- pale Winter Wren.

12/21/13 - Stratford, Long Beach -- 3 Snowy Owls, 1 dark morph
Rough-legged Hawk patrolling its usual area along the causeway and
sometimes perching in trees near the roadway, 2 Rough-legged Hawks on
the old dump site behind the beach. 1  dark morph, 1 light. Both birds
could be seen teed up on bare trees when looking  from Rt 113 (Main
St).
