Sitting on my too crowded desktop is an icon for Jimmy Cornell's great
website. www.noonsite.com http://www.noonsite.com/

This site, if you don't know it already, covers cruising info for every
country in the world and is updated whenever something changes. It has
on it a recent bulletin to say that if you don't notify Oz customs at
least 48 hours before you arrive - big serious fines ($6000 per person,
$50,000 for court cost plus your own lawyer) A quiet retiring Swiss
couple have just been done over.

This one that arrived yesterday is an absolute cracker

Singapore Port Authority Increases Security

Countries: Singapore

In recent months the MPA (Maritime and Port Authority) of Singapore has
introduced new regulations for cruising yachts in what they say is an
effort to "enhance the safety and security of the port and vessels
calling in Singapore" largely in response to recent years' perceived
increased threat from terrorism.

One measure which came into effect from 1 July 2007 is that visiting
yachts must obtain cruising permits in order to cruise within Port of
Singapore waters, including moving between marinas. In order to qualify
for the permit, the visiting yacht must be fitted with an IMO AIS
transponder or a Harbour Craft Transponder System (HARTS) transponder.

If you have trouble locating the story.

In any event the required 96 hours was violated, due to outdated
materials from the Australian Consulate.
