liquid plumber in the bilge

Liquid plumber is lye, i.e. sodium hydroxide. This can attack rubber,
plastics and paint. I would be concerned that it might damage the
insulation on the bilge pump wires.
A better scheme wouldbe to install a diaphragm pump up out of the bilge and
have a hose run down to the inaccessible place. Pumps need maintenance.
