I have a 2 year old 18KW Norpro, 1100 hours.  so far so good.  everything is
easy to access for service or maintenance, etc...

isuzu 4 cyl engine, "self bleeding" injectors....

only problem so far has been a bad oil pressure shut off switch.

Subject: T&T: Gen Set Opinions

I'm heading to the MIBS tomorrow to look at two gen sets--the 17kW Onan

and

15kW Westerbeke.  I only heard from one person in response to my request

for

input--one positive Westerbeke comment, though for a smaller unit.  Surely
there's no shortage of opinions on this list--I'd appreciate any

information.

Tell us more about NorPro, the company and who you can buy them from. How do
their prices compare?

Thank you,
Ron Rogers

isuzu engine,  marathon alternator, electronic regulator. nice sound shield,
easy to open the top and side for routine service...  i usually climb on it
to get out of the compartment where the genset and batteries are.... the
thing doesn't even flex.  . a few more minutes to pull the front and get to
the water pump...  i like the fact that after a filter change it only takes
a couple of minutes of running the fuel pump to re prime and bleed before
starting...  remote panel with gauges... safety switches kick in on a timer
after 10 seconds.

on the downside, they are not very well known so service may not be that
easy to get in  Nearnowhereville, Back Country :-)
here in so fl, parts are handled by Florida Detroit Diesel. knock on wood,
didn't have to get a mechanic to look at it yet... i probably shouldn't be
saying that now shoudl i....

previous owner used to work for http://www.americasgenerators.com/  last
time i looked the 18kw was selling for about $8k plus sound shield...
