Well, the Gales of November are coming early this year on Lake Superior.
50 knot winds out of the NE yesterday on the big lake after a similar
blow the other day out of the NW. What was amazing is that 1,000 foot
freighters (and lessor ships) hunkered down in the harbor all day
yesterday rather than venture out and face the wrath of Gitcheegummi. It
was interesting to watch massive breakers smashing up against almost the
full height of the north pier lighthouse at the entrance of the Duluth
harbor. Our boating for the season is done. All systems are now
winterized.
