Actually, Georgs, this has been one of the more entertaining threads to
come across in some while. I have enjoyed reading them all.

When you joined this list, there was a set of rules there for you to

read

which include a prohibition on commercial advertising.  I believe

you missed

or ignored that rule.

We take this rule seriously.

Darn right we do!

My apologies for the shameless solicitation that was posted at the
start of this thread. As most of you know, T&T is not a moderated
forum and new members are not screened, thus, it possible for
someone
to subscribe to the List and post an outright commercial for their
products or services. Thankfully, it happens only on rare
occasions.

When it does happen, the List Admin Team swings into action. The
commercial poster is immediately placed on moderated status so
nothing he attempts to additionally post appears on the List unless

it's deemed to be appropriate, relevant and of interest.

Often, a block is placed on further posts by anyone so that the
matter does not escalate. In this instance, no block was placed
because several of you, led by Rich Gano, quoted above, jumped on
the
commercial poster. Self-policing is the strongest medicine.

One of two things happen next: The culprit realizes the error of his

ways, apologizes for breaking the List rules and confirms he will
abide by the rules in the future. Then the moderated status is
lifted
and the subscription continues.

Or, and that's what's happening in this case, there is no fessing
up,
there is no apology, there is no promise to abide by the rules,
there
appears to be nothing appropriate, relevant or of interest in what
the perp has to say; therefore, the subscription is terminated with

the culprit added to the banned list so he cannot trouble us again.

There is no problem at all with the discussion that has developed.
The problem was with the shameless solicitation that originated the
thread.
