NOTE: There were TWO Snowy Owls reported today in CT. I've tried to
group the reports so they don't get confused with each other.
#1
From Hank Golet via Sara Zagorski:
11/26/13 - Old Lyme, from Smith Neck Rd boat launch -- Snowy Owl
moving around Great Island, which can be scanned from the top of the
boat launch on Smith Neck Rd.
From Frank Mantlik:
11/26/13 - Old Lyme -- After much searching, as of 2:30 we were able
to see the Old Lyme SNOWY OWL from the Fenwick Pt, Old Saybrook side
of the CT River. It's on a huge drift-log on the the east bank of the
river. Scope is absolutely needed.
From Carolyn Cimino:
11/26/13 - Old Lyme -- Was fortunate to get very good looks with my
scope from the Old Saybrook side of the Great Island/Old Lyme Snowy
Owl at around 11 am today. it was hunkered down on the western beach
side of Great Island, and was continually being dive bombed by two
Peregrines. several of us went to observe it from the boat launch at
the end of Smith Neck Road in Old Lyme, where we could see the dive
bombing going on but could not see the owl, as spartina bared our
view.
From Russ Smiley:
11/26/13 - Old Lyme -- I was able to see the Snowy Owl from the Route
154 bridge across South Cove. A bonus for that location was the
hundreds of waterfowl in the cove.
From Hank Golet and Glenn Williams:
11/26/13 - Old Lyme, Great Island from Smith Neck Rd Observation
platform -- ~30 EASTERN MEADOWLARK, no luck with refinding Hank's
Snowy Owl.

spot described by Frank Gallo an hour earlier.
