Fred... I had received this info from KVH last week

"Note too: a mast between the satellite and the antenna will impair performance."

I was trying to get real world experience to determine what "impair" really meant... From responses I have gotten, it seem the mast will cause problems/outage? when it is between the satellite and the KVH...

Jim et al,

Real World experience:

IF the antenna is 3D stabilized, I found the BEST reception is to put it on
a pole off the most aft  upper deck railing.

Then the mast occupies a very narrow angle of the total 360 coverage.

If the antenna is only 2D stabilized then it should be installed just above
the center of buoyancy when lying in flat water.

For inport, IF by chance the mooring blocks reception, I have a spare
antenna that I put on the dock that I use.

Hope this helps
