Hello everyone,

Thanks very much for the prompt response, Ray. I did manage to get the login problem sorted out and I’ve started on further UI alteration. Questions and information are as follows:

1 - Correct user is critical to proper CSpace 5.1 startup shell command execution.

The problem that I reported in my last contact came from improper execution of the startup shell command. I use an application called webmin to manage nearly all of my Linux-based server virtual machines and it has a rather nice cron command manager. In this particular instance when I entered and saved the command to start CollectionSpace 5.1 at server bootup it was saved as a “root” user command, not as the clearly defined “cspace” user. Once I corrected this error and rebooted the server the login issue was solved. CSpace 5.1 ran perfectly.

2 - Altering the “index.html” file as suggested for template additions breaks the image viewer.

One of the coolest additions to CollectionSpace 5.1 was the enhancements made to the image viewer. It’s what sold me on the upgrade. When I would click on an associated media file’s thumbnail while viewing an object I’d get a fresh tab opening with an expanded view of the thumbnail along with some navigation icons. A really great feature!

When I followed the instructions under “Adding Form Templates” the login page had extra braces along the bottom information area, which I cleaned up. Another reboot presented a perfectly fine login screen but when I opened an existing object with related media file I could not open the image thumbnail into a maximized web browser tab. It would present a “resource not found” web server error. I’ve tried it several times and the error does repeat.

Could it be an error in my html syntax?

3 - Add Inventory Status to search tab items.

Is there any way to add the Inventory Status data item to the searchable list tab? The Director has expressed to me the need to be able to find all items with pending accession status.

Thanks again everyone for your time and input.

Hello everyone.

I've been working with the automated installer this weekend which has left me some information to share and a couple of questions.

1 - Using the automated installer with Ubuntu 16.04 fails repeatedly. I've tried it several times on a freshly created Ubuntu 16.04 Server based virtual machine, always ending with a failure report in the terminal. Using the "-y" flag makes no difference when executing the script. The online documentation should be changed if this is a new problem. Someone else please do verify this behavior on Ubuntu 16.04 Server.

2 ? Using the automated installer as a standard user account with sudo privileges does yield a successful installation under Ubuntu 18.04 Server and starts properly after the startup command is executed.

The browser login page presents fine for the default core tenant in Firefox and Google Chrome but I cannot login using the canned admin or reader accounts, it always says ?the sign in failed?. Editing the postgresql user database and performing a full reboot has no effect, same ?the sign in failed? error. I reused the encrypted password form my previous CollectionSpace 5.0 installation.

What did I miss?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks again everyone.

Hi Ed,

Could you post your index.html file somewhere? I can take a look.

Yes, the fields that appear in the advanced search form can be configured. I'll add a how-to doc for that. For the next release of CollectionSpace, we're working on allowing users to search on any field in the record.

Thanks,

Ray
