Denis--
Don and Ann Gumpertz were and possibly still are members of Del Rey Yacht Club
in Marina Del Rey.
Westward is in the charter trade in Alaska.

I am working on a revision of Beebe's Voyaging Under Power. Information
and
technology have exploded since the 3rd Edition, so I need all the help I
can
get. I am an experienced passagemaker on Teka III (12 years, 50,000 plus
nm), but am not a naval architect, so I'll have to sift through all the new
and old information on design and machinery to update the book.
I will be asking PUP list people a number of questions regarding
passagemaking issues for help in the revision. I hope you will help me
make
the 4th edition the best possible revision without the help of Beebe
himself.
Right now I am looking at the history of passagemaking. I found the book
on
Skeejacks, but can find nothing about Gumpertz's voyage on Westwind. Does
anyone have the details of this circumnavigation?
Feel free to email me direct.
