Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsWhile Sanford and the St. Johns river are great cruising grounds, you have to
get south of Vero Beach in order to have sub-tropical weather. (Note: royal
palms can not survive higher latitudes.) It can be very cool north of
Orlando.
Additionally, if you like game fishing, diving, snorkeling, or water sports in
general, you are better off heading to the Keys. We did this last winter and
were pleasantly surprised, and will be repeating our track, hoping to see even
more of the Keys. We loved exploring the Keys.
