Observation start time: 06:00:00
Observation end  time: 14:00:00
Total observation time: 8 hours

Official Counter:        Dave Brown

Observers:        Su Ross-Redmond, Tom Bolohan, Tom Stewart

Visitors:
Lots of visitors again today for Day 2 of the open house weekend. Thanks to
everyone who helped today with spotting and recording the birds.

Weather:
Strong NE winds right from the get go today and cool at 13C and then
climbing to a high of 22C. Virtually no clouds in the morning with some
higher cloud forming by noon and then to 100% cloud coverage by the last
hour.  High pressure remained steady all day.

Raptor Observations:
Given the great weather with near perfect winds and sky it was a
disappointing flight again today with only 186 birds mostly made up of
Sharpies (87) and Am Kestrels (58) once again. A single Peregrine went
whipping past right above the cliff edge just after the sun was up. Small
numbers of Broadwings (7) and Redtails (8), N. Harriers (12) and finally 4
each of Cooper's Hawk, Osprey and Bald Eagles.

Non-raptor Observations:
A few non-raptors were noted today with N. Flickers, Yellow-bellied
Sapsucker, Black-throated Blue Warbler, Am Robin, Common Raven, Am Crows,
Am Goldfinch, Carolina Wren and Cedar Waxwings.

On the Monarch front I had one in the air just as the sun was coming up and
it quickly flew westward on the strong ENE winds. Very few were noted today
with less than 20 for the entire count period.

Predictions:
The forecast for Monday is rain by midday so the only chance for any kind
of flight will be earlier in the morning and I'm not expected much movement
even then. Tuesday is also looking like rain for the day so we're likely
not doing a count that day.
