To set the record straight:
In the latest issue of the CT Warbler, the article about the Summer Bird Count, page 134, second paragraph, re:  the Gull-billed Terns as being the "first SBC record".  It was not
the first SBC record.

2 Gull-billed Terns were sighted on Sand Island at Greenwich Point during Summer Bird
Count on June 15, 1996 by Cynthia Ehlinger, John Bova and myself.  All three of us,
individually, submitted written documentation to the Avian Rare Records Committee,
and the sighting was accepted as a state record.

A public apology to Meredith, Cynthia and John.  I'm not sure how we messed up that one, as it was right in our records.  Maybe we were just so excited about such a rare bird on the SBC that we jumped to the conclusion that it was a first record for the count.

One other correction.  Dave Tripp told me he had two Eastern Meadowlarks that ended up not being included in the totals for the Litchfield Hills count.  We weren't able to squeeze them into the tables, which had already been submitted.  I had intended to include a note about them, but forgot to.

Patrick Comins, Meriden.
