You folks lead a sheltered life... I am a GP in a rural area that is just a wide spot on the road with one stoplight... Every working day I have at least one 'big city' drug seeker waltz in expecting that I am a hick and a hayseed - most don't even get past the front window as my front office staff have laser eyes when it comes to druggies, but some do... The stories are ingenious and often worth an Oscar.. I will say that claiming to be a captain of a boat cruising around the world has not come up - yet... You see, what you sheltered life folks don't know is that high potency narcotics are worth a fortune on the street... A slicker who cons me out of a bottle of 30 pills of Oxycontin 80mg just made himself $2400 for a $50 office call - they sell for $1.00 per mg on the street... And a bottle of injectable Demerol, 20 ml @ 100mg per ml, is likely double that... And of course the drug regulator folks are out there with their con men trying to sucker doc's into some violation... Why it is a laugh a minute out here in the front line trenches of medicine...
