Greetings,

While I love Marie and JP's reportage, advocacy, and blogging about their Tennant designed  powercat, and also Dennis's pioneering spirit building and 'sailing' one of the first of the breed, I am a bit perplexed by the disinterest in this breed of long range cruising vessel and inactivity of this list.  The accommodation is vast, the performance is unsurpassed by monohull long range trawlers, and  in general life aboard is very nice, to be brief.

Maybe it's the limited audience on this list and response from that audience.  What is the list's view on the future of larger cruising powercats?

I launched mine (finally) last year and have had virtually zero response/inquiry.  That could be due to the design.

Whatever; this is an attempt to stimulate a little discussion.......

First off Bill, let me compliment you on your very nice looking vessel.

I think you have hit upon several of the reasons. There are a considerable
number of forums devoted to boating, and very often some of the
participants get involved with primarily 1, or maybe 2 of them, ...ignoring
the others that maybe they just don't have time for, or are just slightly
removed from their thinking.

To go another step forward and expect to have then following individual
blogs is yet another impediment.

I've tried on several occasions to 'lead' folks over to the Domino blogspot
by making some postings on Yachtforums and Trawlerforums, but it has only
met very limited success. In order to be more successful the thread
discussions need to be continually updated on those forums, in additional
to those 'personal blogspot/forums'.

Some forums are just more successful with participants than others. For
instance I think this Multihulls4us
forumhttp://www.multihulls4us.com/forums/index.phpwas a spin-off
from the Cruisers
and Sailing forum http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/ by folks
dissatisfied with the other forum. But it appears to me to have been
met with limited success (participation), even while there are a
significant number of multihullers.

The general boating market may also have a great deal to do with the
situation as well. I think we can mostly agree that the boat market in the
USA is still in depressed state. sure the hi-end yacht market seems to be
going along, but the middle class buyers are just not coming out like they
use to. And the still smaller number of folks that can know contemplate a
long-range cruising vessel has dropped significantly. Many of these
'retirees' are now limited with the funds, having had to lend some helping
hands with their siblings since the crash of 2008. new cats, power or sail,
in this $1M-$2M category are just priced out of their range at the moment.

......just a few of my thoughts at the moment.

Now if you wish to get some discussions started on this powercat subject I
would suggest that in addition to posting on your own blogspot and this
forum, that we try to keep discussions going on some more forums. Here are
a couple of subject threads I have added or contributed to that we might
make additions to. And perhaps start a new subject thread concerning
'long-range powercats' in addition:

The advantage to adding at least one or two postings to a long subject
thread is you can reach a larger audience, and perhaps link them over to
another more narrow discussion about your particular vessel, and all within
that forum, or even another one.

If you don't mind I will add some of your photos etc to some of these
existing discussions I have participated in?
