Thunderbird 60 beta and add-ons (and 60.0b2 updates)

(posting this to maildev, which may not be the most proper venue, but
maildev has the most context on the subject matter)

In 60.b2 we have "Add-ons not marked as compatible with Thunderbird 60
by their authors will be disabled" per
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/60.0beta/releasenotes/

60.0b2 automatic updates were enabled for 15 hours but are now disabled
so that we can take time to get user and developer feedback, and further
solidify our add-ons story. It would be good to have more cohesive
communications, docs, support, etc and do more to get the word out.

Jorg has a great start for add-on authors in "[Maildev] Proposal of text
to be sent to add-on authors" and is the primary author of [1].  Let's
put our heads together and figure out what elseneeds doing.

Pages that may need updating to communicate new information (and perhaps
fix the most egregious errors in them) :

https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Home
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Extensions
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Thunderbird/Thunderbird_extensions
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Thunderbird/Thunderbird_extensions/Building_a_Thunderbird_extension
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-add-ons-frequently-asked-questions
Should we have a new KB article that focus solely on addons for
version 60 users, similar to what we had for SSE?
  https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/your-hardware-no-longer-supported-tb
What items need to be added to [1]
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird/Add-ons_Guide_57 ? A more
extensive “executive summary”? bootstrap? ...
Others?

What else needs doing in terms of communications and planning?

And what can we summarize for beta users that goes beyond what is
currently in the release notes, so that those who wish can be
participants and help us in this process?  (Keeping in mind we must
communicate later to release users - although those things can be
finalized and polished later)

Thanks

Wayne
