Wow! Looks like a neat boat.

From our experience, you will want nothing less than a 3/4 ton pickup

rated for at least 10,000 lbs. Though the boat weighs 7,000 dry, you can
count on at least another 1,000 lbs of stuff and liquids. Plus, the
trailer itself is going to weigh about 2,000 lbs. That puts you at the
limit of a 10,000 lb rated truck.

A 3/4 HD Chevy Silverado might do the job or a comparabl competitor. Of
course, you  can go to a 1 ton, dually, stick shift diesel truck and get
up to about 16 - 18K lb rating.

But don't skimp on the truck. You have too much invested to do it on the
cheap. And of course, you will want a stout, heavy-duty trailer for the
task as well.

Since the beam is 8'6", you should be legal in most states. You should
not need any special towing permits in most states.

SNIP:

I have just been looking at the North Pacific Yachts 28 Trailer
Trawler.

LOA 28ft
Beam 8' 6"
Dry weight 7000lbs

I have never considered this type of boat before.

What vehicle would be necessary to tow this rig?
What special authorisation/permission (if any) would be required?
Would there be different requirements in different states?
