TWL: Marinas in Mobile, Alabama

This December/January, on the way from Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the Bahamas, we will be stopping in Mobile, Alabama, to pick up my fiancee who will be either flying or driving (in a rental car) from New Bern, North Carolina.  When last in Mobile (July of 1999) we stayed at Grand Mariner Marina on Dog River.  It was fine (they charged only 50 cents per foot back then), but Dog River is ten miles south of the city, and the channel to the river is (or at least was then) narrow, shallow, and prone to shoaling.  We plowed through mud at a couple of spots on the way in.  (Katahdin draws 5 1/2 feet.)  Is there any marina right in town that offers deep water and facilities and where we could stay a night or two, or is Dog River still our best bet?

Thanks for your help.
