Good Afternoon All,

I spotted a pair of Bald Eagles today while driving along the 407 WB between the 403 and Britannia Road.  The two were perched in a tree near the spillway which is often frequented by shorebirds and herons.  One of the two flew off in a northwesterly direction, the other remained in the tree.

Note:  The location as above is along an active highway route (Hwy 407).  If you choose to visit this location, please be very cautious.

Good Evening All,

At approximately 2:15pm this afternoon, I observed a solitary Northern Shrike flying NE across the Old Airfield (Mew Lake Campground) in Algonquin Park.

The bird was carrying a prey item (either a mouse or a vole) and did not remain very long, but just long enough to get a look at it's curved bill.

Directions: Highway 60 to Algonquin Park.  Mew Lake campground is approx. Km 30.  Follow road in to campground, Old Airfield parking lot less than 1 km in on left (follow signs).  By foot follow Old Railway Bike Trail (signs posted) to airfield.  Permit required.
