03/09/14 - Eastford -- afternoon: Northern Shrike seen along the edge
of Route 44 (just west of Old Colony Road - and just uphill from a
lawn mower repair shop) on the north side of highway.  With the snow
and traffic, not a safe place to watch birds!

03/09/14 - Central Village, Quinebaug Fish Hatchery -- NORTHERN
SHOVELER.
North Stonington, Parke Preserve -- NORTHERN PINTAIL (2).
Stonington Point -- COMMON EIDER (10), BLACK SCOTER.
Milford, Mondo Pond -- REDHEAD (2).
Fairfield, Penfield Reef -- BARROW'S GOLDENEYE.
Norwalk, 14 acre Pond -- BLUE-WINGED TEAL.
Old Saybrook, Saybrook Point / South Cove -- BONAPARTE'S GULL (60).

03/09/14 - Westport, Burying Hill Beach -- Red-necked Grebe 20 feet
offshore near the breakwater.

03/09/14 - Hartford, Connecticut River by Riverside Park -- RED-NECKED
GREBE and continuing WHITE-WINGED SCOTER. The other 2 scoter, which
were here the past few weeks, could not be located.

03/09/14 - Milford, Silver Sands SP -- 11 AM; Rough-legged Hawk.  No
Chukar.

03/09/14 - Old Saybrook, South Cove -- 60 BONAPARTE'S GULLS seen in
mud flats from causeway. Initially seen around noon, went back with
scope about 12:30. Entire flock flew up several times so pretty
certain all were Bonie's. Finally flew off and settled in to a section
of cove further to the west out of sight from causeway at about 1 PM.

Goldeneye seen from the Pavilion.

03/09/14 - Litchfield -- Saw 8 Black Vultures moving NW.

03/09/14 - Southbury, River Rd, Housatonic River, across from Mitchell
Farm -- RED-NECKED GREBE just up river from the raft of gulls that
included the continuing GLAUCOUS GULL, LESSER-BLACK BACKED GULL also
present.

03/09/14 - North Stonington, Parke Memorial Preserve -- 5 NORTHERN
PINTAIL.

03/08/14 - Essex/Old Saybrook/CT River -- All white (leucistic?)
Red-throated Loon continues on the river.
Goose Island -- Rough-legged Hawk.
