What is an echo charger and how do they work?

I saw a mention of one a couple of posts ago on this topic. I have  had an
inverter that had one built in  and now I have two that are separate  units.

Xantrex makes an echo charger, check their site or simply google it. The
Echo charger is limited to 30 amps, handy if you have a longer wire run
but can extend the length of time to charge, enables a smaller wire
size. I'm using Blue Sea Systems 7600 ACR
http://bluesea.com/category/2/productline/236 on my house bank that
combines the start battery when the voltage is high enough on the house
bank, drops the connection when the voltage on the start battery reaches
an adjustable set point. I'm pleased with the way it works, nothing to
do once the initial configuration is set. It also has the option of
installing a manual switch to set it to auto-off-on. It limits the
current to 60A.

The echo charger was about double the cost of the ACR switch.
