American Golden Plover at Prequ'ile

Shorebirds on Gull Island at Presqu'ile Provincial Park on Sunday, Sep 21,
2003 included: 2 BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, 3 WHITE-RUMPED SANDIPER, 2 AMERICAN
GOLDEN PLOVER, 1 STILT SANDPIPER (Helleiner), and 1 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER
and about 10 other species.  Three WHITE-WINGED SCOTER were also seen from
the Island.  Landbirds in the Park seemed low in number and not especially
diverse.

The birds were observed by an ornithology class from Trent University led by
Erica Nol, Doug Tozer, Martha Allen and Chris Risley, with help from Fred
Helleiner, Martin and Alex Parker.
