Hi Arild, Champlain Canal is 12' depth but as little as 9' in places - Chambly Canal is OK up to 6.5' draft. But you must be 17' or under air draft and call Lock 1 (518-237-8566) ahead of time in order to pass under the bridges in the Champlain which are otherwise 15'-6". The Chambly is 29.5' so no worries. The Erie barge canal allows 9' water draft but has lower bridges. The tugs on that run have telescoping wheel houses that "duck" for the lowest brudges, As I recall rom my trips through the lowest is at Illion if I remember correctly.
