Frank Gallo just called (7:10 am) to report that the PACIFIC LOON is still present at Lake Quassapaug in Middlebury. He was viewing the bird from the Quassapaug amusement park, which is closed but accessible. He spoke with someone working there who is aware of what is going on, thinks it is kind of cool, and has no problem with birders visiting if they limit themselves to the beach area. You have to sort of wander through the rides to reach the beach. The loon was actively feeding and spending a lot of time under water. From the beach looking out and somewhat to the right, there is a large yellow house on the far side.
