All the discussion of fuel polishing and the likelihood of spending a lot of
time in a slip this winter (while working on other people's boats) have
persuaded me to put in a system. I plan either a Gulfcoast or an ESI system to run
in the slip, not underway. I have questions as to the discharge of filtered
fuel back into the tank: is top better because of lack of head/back pressure
(Gulfcoast method) or is bottom discharge better to stir up the tank (ESI method)?
It would seem that bottom is better. I realize I can use the Gulfcoast filter
with a pump more powerful than the Walbro to overcome the head pressure of a
24-28 inch deep tank. I'm sure Depco (a very reputable pump distributor in
Florida) can tell me what pump to use. Thoughts?

I've had our boat almost two years now, and the only time I have found junk
in the sediment bowls was after a rough day on the Pacific. I think you
could use the natural agitation of being at sea to help clean the tanks. I
would rather have gummed up my polishing system than my filters.
Just my two cents-
