Did I understand you correctly, that the charts are reduced from the original size by about 1/3
What does that do to your ability to measure distance accurately. Is the reduction totally
distortion free?

I've never actually tried these people, but the charts that I've found here

I paid a couple of weeks ago.

What a coincidence. Yesterday I received the region pack I ordered from
Bellingham Charts. They're the company name of tidesend.com. I am quite
pleased with the quality of the copies. I ordered the 2'x3' charts, which
is about 2/3 size. The pack is bound with a couple of removable plastic
clamps so you can easily remove and replace the desired chart. The cost is
substantially less than the original NOAA charts. BUT, as has been pointed
out, they are in black and white. Still, I think they are the perfect
backup for electronic charts. We'll be ordering the remaining charts packs
we need to down the coast and Mexico from them.

Arild,
The ability to measure distance is not compromised. The magnification of
the chart and degrees of latitude are relative. I can't swear that the
reduction is distortion free, but it sure looks so to my eyes. The copies
are very good. Crisp and clear. Just 2/3 the size of the original and B&W
instead of color.
I quote from there web site:
The 2/3 Size folios are an excellent back-up to electronic charts (no bugs
or power outages, could save the ship & your life), and are fastened by
rust-proof nylon fasteners which allow for convenient stowage, easy chart
removal, and later reinsertion. All of the details from a current
navigational chart are reproduced on one piece of paper - including the
Compass Rose and Latitude & Longitude.
For those that are curious, but don't want to spend the money for a whole
chart pack, they will send you a sample for $5 S&H. (or a full size sample
for $7, or both for $10.)
