I always get a kick at reading the T&T list.

Everyone has offered many good ideas and even stronger opinions... I'd like
to be able to ask what a person's professional background is when they make
such obvious bias statements... many I'd guess have been life time
boaters... (not I did not say mariners) and have learned what works for them
and what has been a pain.

Just keep this in mind when you read someone sayings something with strong
wording... I dare say he/she is a great boater.  No need to say anymore...
your mileage might vary.  Do your own research - starting here on T&T is a
very valuable resource - but it is just that - a collection of opinions -
not all recommendations fit the square peg into the round hole but you do
get some great humor mixed in with the swamp water and you don't need to
wear your hip boots to stay dry.

I'd vote for considering a Navistar International diesel engine for a yacht

  • parts are plentiful and very reasonable - checkout eBay search for
"Navistar" - my personal yacht has one and opened my eyes to learning  about
the good alternatives after more than 26 years as a master mariner using the
usual Detroit and CAT in smaller ships & tugs.

Smooth seas,
Doug
