All worked up about spring maintenance

Well, all this talk of fixing and repairing dinghy outboard motors made me
feel guilty about the state of affairs aboard Calypso.  I mean some of you
guys are out there really tearing into things what with changing gear oil
and ripping old stuck cooling water impellers off and sticking new ones on.
I felt so badly about how lazy I am and the little to no attention I have
paid to my wonderful 9.8 Nissan that I ripped that sucker off the dink and
took it straight to an outboard repair shop!  Told the guy there to make up
for all my outboard maintenance transgressions over the last five years or
so.

OB motor maintenance - check.

Rich understands my kind of spring maintenance. Where would all the high
priced mechanics be if we all did our own work? All those $95.00 per hour
people would be having to find jobs that pay what normal people earn!

Well, actually, the marina owner gets $95.00 per hour, and pays the mechanic probably $15 or less.

I like to do my own maintenance. That way, if I botch it, I know who to blame.

I am picking out furniture for my main cabin. Looking for ideas in pic's of similar boats, I notice many 300 Lb. sofas placed right on top of hatches. Think the oil ever gets checked?

That's like locking your dog (engine) in the basement, and the having the vet (mechanic) come around once a year to check its health!
