Forgive me if this information has already been posted. I don't recall
seeing it on the list.

Quoted from the Web page:

On September 17, 1998 the 75 ft vessel STARSHIP left from Bell Harbor in
Seattle, Washington USA to go on a 1000 day educational circumnavigation
around our planet. Daily journal entries permit anybody who like to share
this adventure to to follow the crew around the world.  After launching in
July 98, the STARSHIP has done its first expedition in August heading north
into British Columbia. The project was started by the german magazine STERN
and Michael Poliza and is supported by some of the finest companies in the
world. The STARSHIP will seek to document the state of our planet at the
end of this Millennium and share its discoveries with millions of people
around the globe via satellite and the World Wide Web. With photographers
and filmmakers onboard, the STARSHIP will go to many extremely remote
places that can only be reached via ship. And you can join in on this
exciting expedition! We will provide you with lots of interesting
information and new discoveries. Pictures, videos, sounds, maps,
commentaries and insights will be available directly from the vessel at
