Like many other folk on the list, I would like to see support for HTML
messages and digests. However, it is unclear as to how many people are
actually interested in this idea, so I thought I would take a little poll to
help Georgs get a better feel for the support behind this request. Please
reply to me directly by replying to this message or clicking on
mailto:mike@mikeandmonica.com. Please do not mail the list.
What I'm suggesting is this:
I propose that Trawler List support html messages and html digests in
addition to plain text. HTML messages would be supported by either
converting them to plain text before they are rebroadcast, and/or an
alternate list would be set up that only sends html messages.
The plain text digest will continue to exist, but you can also request a
HTML version of the digest.
While some of this may not be technically possible in the very short term,
knowing what people want will define what needs to change to keep the list
in touch with its users.
Everyone on AOL should vote for this. AOL v6 only supports HTML in their
software. They are the biggest ISP in the nation (and Canada?).
If you want HTML support, please reply to this message and say "yes". After
a week or so of collecting responses, I will post the results.

Judging from the email that I've received, I need to clarify one thing:
I'm not suggesting that we force people to move to HTML, I'm merely
suggesting that we support HTML in addition to plain text. I'm suggesting
that we have the html enabled list (and digest) and the plain text list (and
digest). Each list would have the same content, just the delivery mechanism
would be different.
I think plain text has a place here, just not to the exclusion of everything
else.
Keep those cards and letters coming! :-)
