"I've been hot, and I've been cold... Hot is better!"

"I've been hot, and I've been cold, and cold is WAY better!  Try Dubai
in the summer, Kuala Lumpur any time of year, Hawaii most of the time,
etc.  When you're cold, it's relatively easy to get warm-- just put on
more stuff.  When you're hot you're screwed unless you're inside with
air conditioning.  Besides, about a zillion really annoying kinds of
insects love heat.  They all die when it gets cold.  I lived in Hawaii
for 24 years.  NEVER AGAIN.

And speaking of frozen stuff, there's a technique everyone seems to use
in Alaska to keep a windshield from icing up overnight that people in
the lower 48 seem to have never heard of.  Put a towel, piece of plastic
tarp, etc. over the windshield when you park the car.  Even if it sits
outside all night, no ice on the windshield in the morning. I do this
all the time here and it works like a champ.
