From Bev Propen: 01/15/14 - Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center -- 10 AM to 1 PM: Many visitors today because of the celebrity Snowy Owls. First (and easily seen) Snowy Owl was sitting on the osprey nest from 10-11:40 & it then moved to the male osprey perch. It was preening and scratching its head. The second Snowy Owl was far out across the marsh sitting on the mudflats at about 10 oclock from the osprey nest. No doubt same bird that was here in since 12/14. I had not looked here at all this year. Stratford, Short Beach -- 3 PM; immature GLAUCOUS GULL resting on gravel bar to left of offshore breakwater. From Greg Hanisek: 01/15/14 - Southbury, Southbury Training School Farm -- 10 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS in shrubby swamp on Cassidy Road; also 1 White-crowned Sparrow. From Tina Green: 01/14/14 - Norwalk, 14 Acre Pond at the Stonybrook Road -- Blue-winged Teal and Northern Shoveler continue. Shoveler is a 1st winter male. It has a dark bill and a yellow eye. From Keith Mueller: 01/14/14 - New Haven, Long Wharf -- 12:45 pm the Snowy Owl continues roosting on the rocks at the base of the channel beacon at the end of the Amistad pier. Madison, Circle Beach -- small adult Iceland Gull with pale gray primaries continues. From Tina Green: 01/13/14 - Norwalk, 14 Acre Pond (Stonybrook Road end of the pond) -- Blue-winged Teal hen, Northern Shoveler hen. Both were found by Patrick Dugan earlier in the day.
