Cruising America's Great Loop and other inland routes
View all threadsAnother vote for the Liberty Harbor Marina which is to the north across the
channel from Liberty Landing Marina.
Liberty Harbor has the benefit of being only a 2 block walk from the PATH
trains to NYC, late night if not all night. Liberty to the south works
during the day when you can take the water taxi (more expensive) but the
water taxis stop fairly early.

There are 5 looper boats currently at Newport Marina in Jersey City. Here's
our first hand experience. $2.65/foot plus $8 for 30 amp. big wake barrier
out front, but the wakes are still big and constant all day, they die down
at night. PATH train is right there into Manhattan, very convenient and
runs often and late ($1.75 each way). Jersey City downtown is great, a
regular old American "mall" right across the street, lots of restaurants and
parks within a couple of blocks. But the view is the thing, and it's
spectacular, esp. st night. The docks and showers are just okay, but it's
under new management, corporation that has marinas in St. Thomas and other
NY locations, so perhaps they'll make those improvements...and then raise
the price !!! No matter where you stay, don't miss NYC....
