TWL: Oil------My thoughts

I've found that a very good way to protect mild steel, tool steel, etc. is
to wrap the item in Daubert Uni-Wrap A VCI paper. See

<http://www.daubertvci.com/works.htm>

This paper is amazingly effective. Don't send me a bill if this doesn't
work, but I would guess that a part well-wrapped in Uni-Wrap, then
vacuum-sealed would be in good shape after a couple of years.

Besides the protection, what is really nice about Uni-Wrap is that the part
isn't gummy or oily.

PS - a good vacuum-bagger is a nearly-essential applicance in our view. We
use ours constantly, and not just for tools and spares <g>. We also pack
food with it, including anything going into the freezer for a length of
time.

Hi Steve -

We are considering a vacuum bagger - Do you have any recommendations?

Jeff

Our is a Foodsaver, by Tilia. Italian made, sold in US (and Australia, so
coverage must be pretty good).

<http://www.tilia.com/>

Note that the robustness of the appliance is only part of solution. The
other is the quality of the bagging stock. The Foodsaver material is really
tough.

Cheers,

Steve

I picked up one at Sears a few years back- they are getting scarce. Be
careful about overloading them! Also, the bags themselves can be fragile.
I've had watery spaghetti sauce because the bag broke. All it takes is a few
inadvertent scrapes inside an ice chest- I wound up going to double-bagging
and double-sealing.

Spaghetti is the consummate boiler bag meal. Your favorite sauce is frozen,
and then you cook it in the same water as the noodles. What could be easier!

Two-packs of AA batteries are also a favorite.
