WIFI ripoff,

We recently paid US$40.00 in St Martin (Simpson Bay) for a week. I thought
that was high. Here at CrewsInn (Trinidad) it's US$35.00/month. The speed is
about 350dn/50up. We are about 300' from their antenna, using the internal wifi
gear that came with our Toshiba laptop.

I checked the BBX website and the service plans look fair to me. I think
that wherther they are taking advantage of the one-nighter is a matter of
perspective. We normally go ashore to get email when cruising and, like most who
cruise "foreign," we are used to it. I'd be happy to pay $10.95 not to have to
dinghy a half-mile and wait a half-hour (or more!) for a seat in a bustling
cybercafe.

Regards,

I would not say that BBX is exactly "ripping us off", but I will say
that I think they charge top dollar for their service.  Especially if
you are just visiting the area.  $10.95 a day is not very cheap, in
fact it is quite expensive IMHO.
