To put it simply if there is no habitat there will be no birds. As Will Rogers said we are not making any new land. It is a race against time to save what remaining habitat we have. That is why I support the Nature Conservancy along with other like minded organizations.

Apologies if this has been brought up in this thread already -
If you ask anyone who was in an auto just 40 years ago and while driving on summer nights they will tell you the insects in the car headlights were so plentiful it looked like it was snowing. This wasn’t just in rural more natural areas, it was like that in highly populated places as well. Nowadays we don’t even need to clean our windshields after hundreds of miles of night driving.

Try driving  back from Florida during Lovebug Season.
But I generally agree Jim. No insects, no birds.
