Just drove home from Point Pelee via Highway 3 and saw several flocks of hundreds of each type west of Port Alma. Total birds were well into the thousands and more birds were flying further inland. Very impressive.
The largest flocks were behind the Shanks Seeds barns past Coatsworth Road. They were accompanied by a few Ruddy Turnstones and Dunlins. I have never seen so many Golden Plovers in a single day and I used to visit this area often to see my Great Aunt Helen Coatsworth, who owned a farm in this area along the lake.
