This isn't going to help you bouncing from boat to boat, Dave, but I
mention it here for others because it certainly helps me in a huge way when
I am backing into a slip with own single-screw trawler yacht: a cockpit
control station.

All the controls were installed during the build, and the electronic
throttle and shifting at the main helm station made adding remotes
relatively easy.  Standing at my cockpit control station and backing in
with full control over rudder (using a jog stick), thrusters, throttle and
shifting, I never fail to marvel at how easy it is to back this 100,000 lb.
boat into a slip.  And then, barely taking a step,  hand over a stern line
to someone on the pier.  It's like FM: freaking magic!

But not that I didn't say anything about it being cheap.
