Also this coming weekend (Sept 7-8), come out for the NBC Fall Regatta OR the 135th Shattemuc Open Regatta (HRYRA event) -- both events count for our Cruising Fleet Sunday/Regatta Series (Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker divisions) and the 2019 Fleet Champ Series (all races any division).

Great sailing weather this last week (with the exception of last Wednesday, of course), and this carried through to yesterday, Sunday September 1st.

• Pedlow Cup Series @ Shattemuc: Sunday races started Saturday evening as the Cruising Fleet conducted an Ossining invasion, with five (5) NBC cruisers visiting Shattemuc. The revels put a couple boats in the mood for morning racing in the last event of Shattemuc's Pedlow Cup series (open to Shattemuc and NBC members, but not scored in our NBC Cruising Fleet series). NBC members Dolce and Sheba both competed among nine (9), in a single non-spinnaker division. Of course, Fleet Friends Pentimento and Zoom were also racing. So NBC racing regulars made up almost half the fleet!

  With a good NW breeze, the first race started at 10:30 a.m., a 180 degree wind shift and shortened course really mixed it up. The second race featured a steady SE-S breeze. You can see the Pedlow Cup results HERE. Only Zoom cracked the top 3 (a 2nd and a 3rd on Sunday). But, note, the Pedlow series is intended to give sailors who don't customarily race, or skipper, a chance to do so. Regular racers, like Pentimento and Zoom, have crew members skipper and make tactical decisions. The Pedlow Cup trophy is reserved for Shattemuc members (like our Fleet Champ award is reserved for NBC members), but they award a trophy for the top non-Shattemuc competitor too.

• Nyack Sunday Races: With the Pedlow races finishing just before 1 p.m., a couple Pedlow racers (Pentimento and Sheba) powered down to Nyack for the regular Sunday races. The RC kindly postponed the PHRF fleet start so these racers could join The Office for the first race, Pentimento headed back home, but Race Riot (single-handed) joined for the second race. Over two (2) races the wind built from 6 - 10 kts to 10-15 kts. We ran a long course (#13, C-E-A, 5.7, mi.) and then a short course ((#10, E-B, 2.7 mi.). Results below.
