Hello Everyone:
As a long time passagemaking under power reader Ken's idea is a good one for
us. We have been looking for a boat the last few years and have visited
passagemaking-under-power many times for ideas about "what to look for" in the
boat we want to use. For instance, recently looked at a composite with single
engine but the salesman's idea of composite was a few layers of glass over a
wood hull. There was evidence of stress cracks at transom wood stringers. Ut o,
had a 40' Post that was factory glass to water line and spent a lot of money
on hull repairs. So that was out. We use the ideas presented here as gauges
of what to look for in our boat so restructuring the topic along the lines
that Ken mentions would be a welcome addition to passagemaking-under-power
reading.
Please consider Ken's suggestion as all your "Real Life" experiences are
priceless. Along with the added benefits of saving buyers money and future
anxiety.
Respectfully submitted,
Jim Hughes
