The previous owner of my trawler left behind the bails on the swim
platform that he used to flip his hard dink and carry there.  I could
buy the parts I need and use those for the RIB but then I've got to deal
with taking that big outboard off and on each time and storing it.

I may be missing something but why take the engine off??  I have the Weaver
Snap Davits of appropriate size and of course the Carolina Skiff is well
built, so I just hoist it up and go when necessary. Though I tow it mostly.

I have a 12' whaler and 15hp motor snapped on the transom and use  a 4 part
tackle to tilt the boat up and if you do not allow the the boat to go more
than half way you will not have a problem with the water running back into
the engine. I have carried my dink like this for 28 years. One nice feature
is fast and easy up and down which means you will use the dink much more
for short runs compared to those with davits or that store on deck. I know
from past experience having stored both ways
