Just a quick update on our experience with bridge tender refusing to open bridge.
The government entities I emailed included the USACE , USCG, and FL DOT Bridges division. All email addresses I found thru google searches.
All responded within the day but only one group responsible FL DOT BRIDGES. Although all were interested in the issue and all responded not protocol. USCG said to hail them for bridge assistance if it should happen again anywhere.
The Roosevelt Bridge is under contract with ISS Facilities providing contracted bridge tenders. The manager of the group did email me to apologize and added tender no longer on bridge duty.
I am grateful the issue was handled quickly. Thanks to all who responded.

All bridges on "the navigable waters of the United States." That happens
to include the ICW, which enjoys no other special distinction. The CG
does not operate bridges; they are all operated by state, county, city,
or private entities. All must comply with the CFRs.

Does that legal situation apply to ALL bridges, or is that unique to bridges
over the ICW in which the USCG might have jurisdiction? What about
state-operated bridges (as are most) that are not over the ICW ?

Hello All,
Looking for help in deciding on bow/stern thrusters for my boat. Not sure which manufacturers are good, or not, and whether electric, or hydraulic operation is best. Boat is 55' AWL, with approx. 33,000 lbs. Would like any import from the list as to what is the best starting point in the decision making process.
Thanks in advance,
Ken Tucknott
